What you should know about LovellS Turf Farm

Grass in Dubbo, Farm in Dubbo

Our main activites are farm and grass. Where the grass is greener. More info in our website.

Lowell's Turf Farm is a farming family partnership that commenced as a market garden in buckle Street in the hasty 1980's. Vegetables and turf were grown and sold to supply the local market in our insignificant Fruit and Veg store. Development of the turf farm commenced back in 1985 and as time passed a property was secured on Burroway Road. Eventually in 1995, our stylish farm was purchased on Narromine Road to increase our production capability. Over the years, we have been privileged to supply our lawn turf to a variety of surrounding local Councils and Government organizations, schools, hospitals and housing developments. Fortunately as a family, we have been able to continue to do what we love the most and that is farming on the flats of the Macquarie River. Our main objective is to donate the superior quality lawn turf produced in the Central West for a plausible price with the professional gregarious service that is expected from a business that has surpassed its 25th year.

Lowell's Turf Farm supply quality lawn turf to Dumbo and the Central and Western areas of MSW. Please call regarding any questions about turf varieties apropos for our area, preparation, measuring, quoting and lawn care. Kikuyu is a relevant lawn for both domestic and commercial uses. It is a warm season grass and goes into semi dormancy over July and August, as the frost settles during winter. Kikuyu is commonly worn in fully exposed large areas around parkland, ovals, schools and home lawns. Easy buffalo is pertinent for home lawn, with areas of semi shade. It also has hardy stolons, but a shallow matted root system that does require customary watering to sustain growth over the summer months. Soft buffalo is a warm season grass, which is affected by thick winter frost. Kikuyu, Buffalo and Couch grasses are classed as summer grasses and send stolons along the ground and self mend quickly when damaged. The water requirements are minimal on comparison to seeded grasses such as rescue and rye, which are more suitable for colder, wetter areas in the tablelands and coastal regions. If you are seeking a specialist turf variety, we are able to source different cultivars from a major supplier in Windsor or support a supplier who will be able to help to face your needs. Ground preparation is an important step in establishing a thriving well lawn. If you receive the time to prepare the ground thoroughly, the turf will establish quickly and be qualified of producing a strong, deep root system that will enable the plant to sustain our warm summers. Problem soils If your soil is a very impoverished quality, we would suggest introducing a high quality organic blend underlay soil prior laying the turf. As soon as the turf has been laid, water needs to be applied. The lawn will require frequent daytime watering for the beginning two weeks to reestablish the new root system. During this period, the plant is unable to draw water from beneath the soil, so it is critical to keep the turf slab moist throughout the day to avoid drying off and stunting the growth. After establishment is completed, it is now advisable to water in the evening to avoid evaporation losses. Initially, use a tall cutting setting on the mower until establishment is complete to avoid scalping the new lawn. Behind establishment, lowering the mower setting to a relevant cutting level. Frequent mowing is advisable to encourage root depth and a finer denser grass cover. To maintain growth over the future, steady fertilizing is recommended. The maximum relevant time to fertilize is in hasty Spring and early Autumn, with a fertilizer that has a balance of Nitrogen, Potassium and Phosphorus. Water the fertilizer in thoroughly for the superior results.
